Configure Channels
Goal: give a TV source a channel lineup — numbers, names, logos, and favorites — so users pick channels by name instead of typing numbers.
Channels are organized under providers (one per cable, satellite, or IPTV service). A provider owns an independent channel lineup.
Before you start
- You're logged in as an administrator.
- The tuner source exists (see Set Up an AV Zone).
1. Create a provider
-
Open Channels.
Open Channels
-
From the provider selector, click New and configure:
- Name —
lowercase_with_underscores(e.g.cable_comcast,satellite_directv,iptv_stream). - External Provider ID — optional, only needed if you'll sync the lineup from an external service.
- Name —
2. Add channels
With the provider selected, build its lineup:
- Add channels manually — set the Channel number, Name, Logo, and Call Sign.
- Or use Sync to pull the lineup from an external source (requires the External Provider ID).
- Mark frequently-watched channels as Favorite so they surface first in UIs.
- Reorder with Sort to control how channels appear.
3. Attach the lineup to the source
Associate the provider with the tuner source that tunes those channels, so its lineup appears when users select that source. See AV Sources and Channels in the Admin Reference for the exact field.
Verify it
Select the tuner source in a UI and confirm the channel lineup appears with names and logos, and that selecting a channel tunes it.
